WHO ARE WE?

Yep, We started another classified ads Website. What? Are we crazy?

Well, before we took the plunge we talked with a bunch of our friends and neighbors, and they unloaded on us about what a mess some of the other classifieds sites are. As a result of what we learned, we believe we can offer you a solution to your problems.

Almost everybody has a complaint about Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and the others. If you’ve visited either one of them, or tried placing an ad, you know. Here are a few that will sound familiar to you:

  • Scams, fraud and other sneaky stuff. Persistent issues that you’ve encountered are fake listings, over-payment schemes, phishing attempts, and malware risks.
  • Aggressive spam and re-posted listings. Duplicate and repetitive ads. You know.
  • Commercial ads mixed in with the personal ads, poor search relevance, clutter and on and on.
  • And it can get dangerous. Our own son-in-law was the victim of an armed robbery when he met up with a guy who ran a fake Craigslist ad.

Bottom line: If you’re willing to put up with a couple of two or three minute inconveniences– like setting up an account– we can solve most of your bad experiences. Here’s what we’ve come up with:

  • You can’t post an ad here unless you create an account. All of us in the Mayland area get to know a little about you, your home town or zip code. The other guys let anybody post an ad, so you have no idea who they are or where they’re from. What could possibly go wrong?
  • Ads don’t go live at MaylandMarketplace.com until they are checked out and approved by our Moderators. Why’s that? It helps hold down the spam and the other sneaky stuff you have to sift through with Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and some of the others.
  • We separate commercial ads from the Personal Ads category. Reasonable business people like those we have in the Mayland area know that’s fair. So you get more relevant searches.
  • We let users like you rate the Sellers. Ratings from users helps keep the scammers and the crooks away. So you get a pretty good feel for who you’re dealing with.
