To ensure your ad looks its best and loads quickly for potential buyers, please follow these guidelines when uploading images:
1. Image Size Requirements
- Minimum size: 640 × 480 pixels (This a 4:3 width to height “aspect ratio,” which is the same as most common cell phone photos when held sideways.)
- Maximum finished size: 640 × 480 pixels
(All images will be resized to this dimension if they are too large, but starting with the correct size ensures the best quality.)
2. Why Image Size Matters
- Large images straight from a phone (often 3000+ pixels wide) can slow down the website. Our site may accept up to 2 MB file size but that’s risking it.
- Oversized images may take longer to upload and reduce the visibility of your ad. If your image is too large the “Place Ad” page will just stop working and won’t accept it. Be safe and resize it before uploading!
- Properly sized images display faster and look sharper.
3. How to Resize Your Images
- On a smartphone:
- Use your phone’s photo editor (look for “resize,” “crop,” or “adjust size”).
- Choose 640 × 480 pixels or the closest option available. Resizing will keep that 4:3 aspect ratio.
- On a computer:
- Open the image in any editor (Paint, Preview, or an online resizer like Pixlr or Canva).
- Resize to 640 × 480 pixels. Simply resizing will keep that 4:3 aspect ratio.
- Save in JPEG (.jpg) format for best results.
4. File Format
- Acceptable formats: JPEG, PNG, or GIF
- Avoid using images in TIFF or RAW format, as these are too large and may not upload.
